VACANCY FOR THE POSITION OF FINANCE MANAGER

 

Background

Limerick Social Service Council (LSSC) is a leading voluntary service, working in the communities in Limerick for over five decades.  The LSSC delivers its services at the LSSC Centre in Henry Street, Limerick and the Child and Family Centre in Galvone, Limerick and through outreach in arrange of locations throughout Limerick City and County. These are delivered through the Child and Family Service, the Early Years’ Services, the Counselling and Psychotherapy service and services for Older Persons.

 

The Finance Department deals with all aspects of Limerick Social Service Council finances, interacts with our Statutory funders and regulatory bodies.

 

Scope of Position

Reporting to the General Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for the financial administration of Limerick Social Service Council.  Working closely with the Finance Administrator, duties will include: payroll; suppliers and expenses; budgetary preparation and control; preparation of consolidated management accounts, balance sheet, reconciliation; compliance with statutory regulations and best accounting practices.

 

In order to be considered for this Position candidates must have:

  • A recognised professional Accountancy Qualification (ACA, ACCA, ACMA).
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior Accountancy or Finance role.
  • A proven ability in Financial Management and Budgeting with sound knowledge and understanding of budgetary, financial management and commercial processes.
  • Significant experience in ensuring compliance with financial regulation.
  • Experience in the preparation of Financial Statements and Audit.
  • Expertise in Financial and Information Systems and a demonstrated capacity in this area.
  • Supervisory Management experience and strong people management skills.
  • Excellent organisational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced IT skills as well as familiarity with recognised financial software packages.

 

In addition, it is desirable that candidates have:

  • A level eight degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Studies or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in managing Statutory Funding.
  • Previous experience or familiarity with the charitable sector and compliance responsibilities under the Charities Act 2009

 

Special Requirements for the Position:

  • Respect the ethos of Limerick Social Service Council
  • Flexibility with regard to hours of work.
  • Full clean driving licence and access to a car

 

THE CONDITIONS

This is a permanent post (subject to funding on an annual basis).

 

HOURS OF WORK – between 20-30 hours per week (hours of work will be agreed on commencement of employment)

 

SALARY - €60,000 per annum pro rata, subject to experience.

 

Garda Vetting will apply in respect of this position.
